Any electronic device, whether it is a lightbulb, a radio, a cell phone, or a computer, requires a basic electric circuit. A basic electric circuit consists of three main components: a power source, a conductor, and an electrical load. The power source can be either an alternating current (AC) or a direct current (DC). It provides the energy necessary for the circuit to function. Common power sources include batteries, generators, and electricity from a wall outlet. The conductor is the medium through which electricity flows and carries energy from the power source to the electrical load. Common conductors are insulated wire, cables, and metal bars.
